For the seventh edition of the Master Blender Collection, Mount Gay Trudiann Branker's Master Blender has opted for 100% distillation in the Coffey Still copper pot still.
The Coffey Still was invented by Aeneas Coffey in the early 19th century. It is one of the world's first column distillers and works as a series of pot stills linked together in two columns, allowing continuous distillation. The result is a rum with a truly unique character, with floral aromas and notes of pear, grapefruit and honey.
There are very few copper Coffey Stills left in service, and Mount Gay is lucky enough to own one. After being left derelict for decades, it was recommissioned in 2019, and this is the first time a Coffey Still distillation from the Mount Gay distillery has been released.
