Kavalan

KAVALAN Concertmaster is a continuation of the KAVALAN Single Malts. Unlike the KAVALAN Single Malt, Concertmaster spends another six months finishing in port wine barrels, giving it its full-bodied, sweet flavour.

KAVALAN King Car Conductor is the only whisky from the KAVALAN brewery to bear the corporate group’s name. Maturation in eight different barrels, including fresh and refill examples from bourbon, sherry, red wine and white wine, gives King Car Conductor a very complex and rounded aroma. This bottling non-chill filtered and has a higher alcohol content of 46% vol.

Nose: Pure and fruity with a touch of papaya, banana and green apple. Pleasantly floral with complex aromas and touches
Palate: Sweet, rich in vanilla, banana and coconut with a delicate bitter note that balances out the sweetness. Lingering, complex and pleasantly smooth in the finish

KAVALAN Sherry Oak is matured in selected Spanish first-fill Oloroso sherry barrels. Bottled from batches of various four to six year old barrels. At 46% vol., it fits perfectly in between basic bottles and the strongly bottle-aged Solists.

Kavalan Solist Amontillado is a dry style of sherry that falls between Fino and Oloroso in terms of colour. Amontillado sherry is initially matured under a layer of flor yeast and is then opened to the air for further oxidation. Toasted almonds and hazelnuts are the classic aromas for Amontillado barrels. KAVALAN Solist Ex-Bourbon is matured in American oak barrels and impresses with its complex, multi-layered character. Like the other members of the Solist series, it is a limited-edition bottling at cask strength with both barrel and bottle numbers.

Nose: Pure and refreshing with tropical fruit aromas, rich in vanilla, coconut and smoky oak

Kavalan Solist Manzanilla Sherry is not unlike Fino, but is made right by the sea. The salty sea breeze seeps into the barrels and is reflected in the final product.

Colour: Dark amber.
Aroma: Fresh melon, complex and multi-layered fruit aromas, a hint of toffee and cocoa, with cider in the finish, delicately saline
Flavour: Delicate saline notes that blend perfectly with the well-balanced, sweet flavours of tropical fruit such as orange and melon

KAVALAN Solist Peaty Cask is the brewery’s first and as yet only bottling to combine the tropical fruit aromas typical of KAVALAN with a pleasantly peaty note. The whisky gains this from its period of maturation in selected former Islay barrels. With this bottle, KAVAL is breaking new ground to delight whisky fans.

Colour: Golden honey
Nose: Rich in honey, toffee, beeswax and coconut, plus tropical fruit aromas such as kiwi and citrus that emerge with a touch of water
Palate: Toffee and butterscotch with a hint of peat, then pepper and red chilli notes in the finish, very complex, oily and well balanced

KAVALAN Solist Port Cask is matured in selected first-fill port barrels. The influence of this Portuguese fortified wine is what gives the whisky its smooth, sweet character. KAVALAN Solist Port Cask is bottled at cask strength and is non-chill filtered.

Colour: Dark russet.
Aroma: Powerful oak aromas combined with a touch of spice and delicate sweetness.
Flavour: The intense sweetness of dried fruit, delicate oak aromas, echoes of raisin.

KAVALAN Solist Vinho Barrique is matured in wine barrels that have held both red and white wines. These wine barrels are carefully scraped out and toasted during the preparation process to activate the full intensity of the oak aromas. They are then stored for several months and reassembled to be used for maturing KAVALAN Solist Vinho Barrique.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep autumnal gold.
Nose: Vanilla, caramel and chocolate join forces with tropical fruit such as melon, kiwi, mango and citrus, as well as a delicate touch of pepper.
Palate: A rich, rounded flavour with prominent sweetness. Finish: Lingering and soft.
